III. Scholarly/professional work
My main area of research interest for over twenty years has been teachers’ work, careers and development and I have published regularly in these areas, including the development of models of career decisions and intentions and induction processes. I have engaged in comparative work contrasting the experiences of new teachers in Hong Kong and Scotland. I have been a member of several research teams: on teachers’ work and development, on teachers’ views of and aspirations about promoted posts, on the training and support of new school leaders, on the induction of staff into new posts at all levels and currently on work life balance and integration.
