The Department of Education Studies (EDUC) held a consolidation event for the “Promoting Positive Youth Development through School-University-Elderly Learning Community” project on 19 May.

Over 200 people including HKBU President Professor Roland Chin, Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Adrian Bailey, HKBU students, secondary school principals, teachers and students, together with community centre representatives and older adults took part in the event. Highlights of the consolidation event included the presentation of caring certificates to university students and certificates of appreciation to representatives of the collaborating schools and community centres, and a review of the learning experiences gained by the young and old participants from the four intergenerational learning circles.

In his speech, Professor Chin recognised the contribution of the project in facilitating collaboration and mutual learning among university students, secondary school students and older adults and in providing HKBU students with opportunities to extend the caring culture of the University and bring it into the community.

The two-year project funded by the Quality Education Fund is led by Professor Atara Sivan, Head of EDUC, and Professor Vicky Tam, Associate Head of EDUC. Professor Sivan highlighted the learning community’s unique features: being inclusive and educational. Participants not only gained knowledge and skills but also learned to respect and appreciate one another. She was confident that the experiences gained through the project will have a long-lasting impact on the community.

教育學系於5月19日舉行「長幼同行成長路」閉幕禮，超過200人出席，包括浸大校長錢大康教授、社會科學院院長貝力行教授、計劃團隊成員、浸大學生、中學校長、老師及同學、社區中心代表和長者。

典禮上，浸大同學及各合作團體代表，分別獲頒發關愛狀或感謝狀，以肯定他們的貢獻，而四組跨世代學習社群亦分享和展示其所得經驗。

錢校長致辭時認同此計劃促進了大學生、中學生和長者之間的合作和互相學習，同時讓浸大同學將大學的關愛願景，付諸實踐。

該兩年計劃獲得優質教育基金資助，並由教育學系系主任蘇秀冠教授及副系主任譚肖芸教授帶領。蘇秀冠教授指出，學習社群有獨特的包容和教育意義，參與者在過程中不但掌握了知識和技能，更學會互相尊重和欣賞。她深信，計劃中所創造的經驗，一定能夠在社區中帶來持久的影響。
