Admission – Doctor of Education (EdD)

Full Time and Part Time EdD:
No applications will be invited to Doctor of Education.
Admission Requirements

Applicants should (a) possess a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree; or a Bachelor’s degree with first class honours or equivalent; and (b) demonstrate a record of at least 4 years of professional experience in the education sector or other relevant sectors as deemed appropriate by the Department.

Proof of English proficiency is required for all applicants whose bachelor’s and Master’s degrees were obtained from programmes where the medium of instruction is not English. These applicants must meet the following minimum requirements for English proficiency:

  • an overall band score of 6.5 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or equivalent

For applicants who wish to work on the EdD programme in an area related to Chinese Language/Chinese Language Education or the like, they are required to attain

  • an overall band score of 6.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or equivalent

Short-listed candidates may be invited to attend an interview.

Tuition Fee

The tuition fees are as follows:

  • HK$283,800 for the full-time mode, payable in six instalments for a minimum study period of three years ($47,300 for each semester)
  • HK$283,800 for the part-time mode, payable in eight instalments for a minimum study period of four years ($35,475 for each semester)

For students who have completed all the instalments but need to extend their study beyond the minimum study period, are required to pay a continuation fee. The continuation fee for a three-month period is $12,000.
